Overview
A wound is an injury to the skin that cuts or breaks it. Although most wounds heal naturally over time, there are several things you may do to speed up the process.
A wound exposes the body's interior tissues to the outside atmosphere, which may result in the mixing of dust into blood and tissues.
That is why we should not leave a wound uncovered. Common causes include cuts, blows, accidents, and other impacts.
A minor wound can sometimes be treated at home. If you have a more serious injury, such as shattered bones or extensive blood, you should seek medical attention.

1. Wash your hands with soap and water.
2. Remove any jewelry or clothing from the area of the wound and apply pressure to the wound to halt the bleeding.
3. Using clean and cold water and a saline solution, clean the wound.
4. Once the bleeding has stopped, check the site for foreign objects and dirt and use an antibiotic ointment to avoid infection.
5. Using a clean cloth, pat the wound dry.
6. Apply an adhesive bandage or band-aid to the wound.
7. Every 24 hours, you should check the wound. This entails removing the bandages and inspecting the wound for symptoms of infection.
8. After that, clean the wound, dry it, and apply a clean adhesive bandage or band-aid.
A non-sterile closed wound can retain bacteria and lead to subsequent infections.

First Aid Tips For Babies In Case Of A Cut or Scrape:
Is your child cut or scraped? You can treat his/her sensitive skin quickly with these first aid techniques.
1. Apply Pressure on the Cut
Calm your child and let him know you're there to help.
Baby skin is incredibly vascular, with many little blood veins near the surface, so don't be alarmed if cuts bleed profusely.
"Hold firm pressure directly over the region with a clean cloth for 15 minutes," explains Kristina Collins, M.D., dermatologic surgeon at Vitalogy Skincare in Austin, TX. If the bleeding does not cease at that point, get medical attention.
2. Cleanse the wound
Allison Hanlon, M.D., a Yale School of Medicine surgeon and assistant professor in the department of dermatology, recommends gently cleaning the region with a non-fragranced soap or non-soap cleaner and water.
If debris remains in the wound following this procedure, see your doctor.
Dr. Hanlon also warns against using hydrogen peroxide to clean: "It is widely assumed that using hydrogen peroxide will prevent infection and aid in wound healing.
Hydrogen peroxide can actually be detrimental to the healthy cells needed for the wound to heal," he warns.
3. Treat the Cut
Apply antibacterial ointment to the affected region.
Allow the wound to heal in the open air if it is mild and unlikely to become unclean.
If the wound is likely to become unclean because it is on the hands or feet, cover it with a bandage during the day and let it dry naturally at night.
Keep an eye out for signs of infection, such as redness or discharge.
